The scent is strong at first, but I think it's because it's real, dried lavender. I have put one in a linen closet that was really musty - cleaned it out first with some orange oil diluted with water, aired it out and then out a sachet in the closet. It has completely eliminated the mustiness and leaves a fresh scent.
