**Q: Looking for a product that will actually waterproof a patio unbrella...will keep the rain out?**
A: Edward, I am an architect and have tried a few commercial waterproofing agents but used Aqua Armour last season.  I cleaned the fabric with just soap and water first.  Applied 2 generous coats and let dry between.  I did not have to re-apply this summer at all and it is completely waterproof.  We have a large cantilevered umbrella over outdoor sectional sofas and have stayed out in the rain all night.  I even leave the umbrella open all year (Washington DC mild winters) and move furniture under it too keep dry.   I also used on outdoor fabric cushions to help with water, spills, stains also.   i highly recommend

It was not effective at all, in stopping the rain from coming through our patio unbrella!  I followed instructions to the "T"....put two coats on it and let it dry for several days and when the first rain came, it leaked and dripped just as it did before we applied the Aua Armor....very disappointing!
