The hat so light you can hardly feel it on your head. The material is completely breathable with no waterproofing. If you want a hat that will keep your head dry in the rain this hat would need to have some waterproofing added. On the other hand it breathes extremely well and allows the sweat from your head to pass through. It does have a good interior sweat band. The brim is long and gives good protection from both the sun and the rain. It is long enough to keep my glasses dry while hiking in the rain. I believe the interior of the brim is plastic so the brim holds up well when wet. Following hikes I have been throwing the hat in the washing machine with my other hiking clothes. Rather than placing it in the dryer I just hang it up. It dries very quickly. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not waterproof but pleasantly surprised *by R***D on August 30, 2016* Nice comfortable lightweight cap. Just returned from trip to WDW in Orlando. Cap kept sun off my head and cooler than other caps. Cap is not waterproof as described in heading of product and didn't think so especially when reading description of material but I ordered anyway specifically for this trip, seeking something lightweight and inexpensive. It is very quick drying which was a plus while using during downpours and wearing in pool and waterparks without losing shape. Quality wise, it seems about as good as my other hats that I paid a lot more for from a store at the Mall. It's definitely light weight and fits my head.
