If you're comfortable and familiar with exercising with hang-boards etc then I'd probably try the black. If you're just starting on grip-strength training I'd probably go with the green. 6oz of the putty is just a bit less then a tennis ball and is about how much you need to really do a lot of the full-hand exercises for smaller adult hands. Someone with large hands might want 8 oz. The small portions really seem aimed at kids or some of the smaller single-finger exercises. It doesn't stick to anything unless you leave it sitting for a while. Dropping it on the carpet is fine - but if you leave it on fabric, carpet, or something fuzzy for a long duration it may start to try to integrate with it.
