However, I must admit to being impressed with its performance, given that it is a hand held battery model, and I can fully understand why it has such high ratings. I had just got fed up humping my old Vacuum about, the cables and tubes really were getting on my nerves, despite the fact that it is so powerful it is capable of lifting rugs off the floor. The power on this machine doesn't come close to that, but it is more than adequate for my twice weekly buzz round. I think it’s ideal for hard floor. Can pick up dust but I am already thinking of buying something with more power to clean carpets to my satisfaction. **Q: Can I use or shaggy rug?** A: I'm not 100% sure it would be a good fit. It arrived very well packaged and the instruction manual is very clear. It draws up dust very effectively and is easy to empty. Only a couple of downsides - the main cleaning head is on a flexible tube, which means that it moves from side to side as you push it forward. This means that you have to consciously steer it to make it go straight ahead. Also, the body is made of very slippery plastic and this can make gripping the unit rather tricky when changing tools.
