Awesome to have the manual option just in case the batteries die too! But, the design could use a tweak- it takes tremendous force to separate the pieces! There has to be a better way! I use a lot of pepper & refilling this unit is a huge pain in the arse! I had to hold it with my feet & pull with both hands! LOL! But still, very nice pepper mill for what I paid.
