It does however have a very very strong chemical odor to it. Now I actually don't particularly mind this as it is a "clean" chemical odor if that makes any sense. Kind of like what you may expect a hospital to smell like. But it is very strong, so if sprayed like in a small room it may need to be ventilated some. Have used on hard surface and on carpet. The carpet spot I used it on I feel needed a second treatment to really remove the odor. Once the area dries the chemical odor of the spray does not linger. Its simply when you first spray the product and the surface area is wet that this odor is prevalent. Those with sensitive noses will not want to be around that area. Overall seems to be effective, about on par with other quality pet odor removers. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of a Kind!!! *by J***7 on Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2017* This is probably the first thing that I've been able to say works. I think one of the secrets is that you have to spray both front and back of the carpet. I used this on an 5X8 area rug,, wool, it smelled terrible. I thought just another area rug to throw out so why not try. . I worked on redoing each section at a time, both sides of the carpet. I've tried other products on it and they never seem to work after a few days. I followed the directions closely, not my usual mode of operation, hung the rug over chairs on the outside porch to dry. It had a pleasant smell, not something I would wear to a party but not bad at all. I had soaked it so well and then blotted that it took a couple days to dry. Well, low and behold, the area rug is back on the floor. If there is an accident I lift the rug, but something under it to hold it off the floor and go to work. Turn my ceiling on overnight and it is usually dry the next day. I highly recommend and hope that you have the same results that I did. I like to keep a spray bottle handy. Reminds me I need to order more. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ... this item but I ended up really finding it useful and effective in taking out pee smell *by P***F on Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2016* I wasn't sure about ordering this item but I ended up really finding it useful and effective in taking out pee smell. I followed the instructions carefully (taking out as much of the pee/moisture, etc) and within a few hours, after this product has dried on the carpet, I cannot detect any of the pee smell anymore. That said, the pee stains don't come out completely, there are still "shadow stains" or darker areas where the pee was before, but it is definitely lighter and less visible. I find the scent of this product to be not too strong and actually pretty pleasant. I am almost done with my first bottle and have reordered this.
