## Questions & Answers

**Q: what are the exact steps to setup as a repeater. I can't get it jus by typing the provide IP address into my browser?**
A: These are the instructions I followed. Connect the router to your computer using the enclosed ethernet cable. Open your browser and enter the address http://192.168.10.253 (check this to be sure). That should bring you to the router's green login screen. Enter the default ID(admin) and password(admin), and you will get the setup screen with blue tiles. Click on the tile labeled Repeater. You will get a screen showing the available wifi networks. Choose yours. It will then ask for the network login and password. Enter this, and, in theory, the router should be ready. I only got this to work once, and it crashes shortly thereafter.

**Q: Can I make it connect to one Wifi network (WIFI_1) through the air and create another Wifi network (WIFI_MY) for my devices to connect?**
A: I believe you can. There are at least 4 ways it can work. Repeater mode in my opinion is easiest requiring no setup except a password. And hey, for 25$ you ought to try one out. I bought 2, one to extend range in house via wifi repeater. And one to act as a wireless modem in my shop via a cat5 wire. both set up very easily in repeater mode. The wizards work well.

**Q: Anyone know if the manual for the WR-WN300 is online? I cant find anything and mine came without one.**
A: The manual is 'buried' in the top section of the plastic that the WN300 comes in. If you still have it, look in there. If not there is a YouTube video at:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKQLY_GVi-g

**Q: I put the second one for ap, and i can't change the lan ip address and can't find it from my network.. why?**
A: Most likely your issue is what it was for me, it being an N type connection you have to create a new connection just for it than bridge the two together. You can also just setup the Lan with a static IP. There's tutorials on YouTube on how to set these up too.

Difficult to Set Up but Worth the Price

*by E***. on Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2014*

I purchased this for the same reasons most others purchased it: there is a slow or dead zone in the house. The repeater function was simple to set up. However, what you need to realize is that while the connection with the repeater may be strong, repeaters by nature cut the band width in half because they use that same bandwidth to speak with the underlying router. So, while you are getting a strong signal from the repeater, you have a typically slow internet connection. After realizing this, I tried to set it up in the AP mode to simply add an access point to my router, as I had the wiring somewhat available. It took me a full day to get it working; for some reason, I could connect to it, but it wouldn't recognize my router. In the end, it started working and I am not entirely certain why. After reading some of the other reviews, I believe that you need to completely disconnect the underlying router after connecting the AP, but I am not sure (that was not stated in the instruction, nor did the technician I spoke with for assistance). The signal is very good throughout the house now, but every now and then, it stops transmitting a signal until I switch to the other router and back. It doesn't happen a lot, but maybe twice a week. I would be very interested in finding a fix for this. The other problem I have with it is the inability to access the unit once you set it up. In order to access this unit now, I would need to reset it and start from scratch. Incidentally, to reset it, you need to hold the button in for 20 seconds - 10 seconds will not do the job.Overall, I think it is worth the price and it does a very good job in the upstairs bedrooms. As with all the other reviews, the directions are just awful.ADDITION:I set up the mini router using an SSID containing a space in the name. I have since learned that an SSID should not have a space or it may hinder the connection. I have since changed the SSID - It is too early to tell if this is the reason for the sporadic drop outs of service I mentioned earlier.FURTHER ADDITION:Changing the SSID did not increase the stability of the unit. However, it appears that the sporadic dropping of service affected only the iphones in my home - not my laptop. I also found that even acting as an access point instead of a repeater, the band width was not great. It was much better than as a repeater, but not nearly as good as it should have been.CONCLUSION:Still a good unit for the price and its portability is fantastic. It is also a good unit if you travel, connecting to the wired internet in your room and broadcasting wireless. It is also good to boost weak signals when using it as a router; I just wouldn't purchase it to use it as a permanent fix.

5 stars if the website and instructions had been better

first of all I am a a homeowner who needed a solution for a Tivo and for guests in the living room so I decided to go with an extender rather than a specific Tivo WiFi product. I also purchased the product and did not get it free to provide a review. A am a mom who needed to provide WiFi coverage for the whole house and for the teenagers who are always here. I have a Motorola Surfboard which provides pretty good coverage but it is in the center of the house and the Tivo needed a router. The living room is often full of teenagers with iPhone and iPad and laptops doing homework so i wanted to boost the coverage in this room. The Sabrent WiFi Range Extender has done both just as I intended. I have the Tivo plugged into it directly and no problems and the kids are getting 4-5 bars consistently. That is the 5 star part of the review. The 3 star part of the review is for the instructions. The instructions are terrible and the website hard to follow. I never could update the software. I'm hoping there wasn't an update and that is why. I read the microscopic print in the hard to understand written instructions several times going back and forth between it and the website before finally making it work. There are different set ups to choose from but I just wanted an extender so that is all I focused on. So, you need to feel comfortable with technology to install, but if you are are looking at getting an extender you probably are comfortable enough to set up this product. Just know that it is not as simple for the average consumer as some reviews may imply.

    So far, so awesome!

*by E***O on Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2014*

I was about to give up on this (my 3rd different extender in 3 months) and about to upgrade my 16MB internet connection from the ISP. I was having trouble with download speeds in my two story, 3000 sq ft house. Wireless router (Netgear) located in Bonus room upstairs. Would normally get 16MB in the bonus room, 8MB in both my upstairs office and bedroom, then 3-4MB in my dining and living area downstairs. We eventually want to cut the cord and have our TV downstairs serviced by our wireless, but 3-4 MB won't hack it. I started looking at extenders and had installed 2 previously, purchased from Amazon with no real difference in signal and download speeds. I then found this Sabrent range extender after the good reviews. As most of the comments suggest, it's easy to set up and the manual instructions are clear and work well. You have 4 options to use the extender (router, WISP, extender or AP). I personally wanted to extend signal to the rest of the upstairs and downstairs rooms (outside of the bonus room) so configured it as a repeater. At first I did not believe it was working properly and if anything, the signal had gotten worse. However I then started to use common sence and realized I was getting 16MB downstairs!. The trick was realizing that after the called "reboot", the Sabrent is ready to use. I was originally using the "Wireless-N" as my connection point for my wireless after setup. But again, if you chose this from the list of available wifi connections after setup, you are only going to get the 3-4MB which it's designed to give you (being in router mode). Configured as an extender/repeater (after the setup and reboot of the Sabrent) you actually continue to log into your original SSID you have on your home wireless router. Remember you are just extending/repeating THAT signal from the Sabrent and not logging into the Sabrent itself. It only took me 3 days to realize this. Today I am getting 16MB throughout the entire 3000 sq ft of my house. I highly recommend this product. I will update in a few weeks to see if this still holds true.
