The troops include 24 American GIs in olive drab, 23 German Soldiers in gray, and 12 British Tommies in tan. The figures feature Brigadier General Teddy Roosevelt Jr., Brigadier Lord Lovat, Sergeant Harrison Summers, and Field Marshal Erwin Rommel. The set also includes 2 Higgins Boat LCVP Landing Craft with working ramps, 3 German Pillbox Bunkers with mounted Flak 37 Artillery, and a Bombed French Farmhouse with removable partial roof. Atlantic wall accessories include 3 Barbed Wire Fence sections, 12 Sandbag Stacks, 12 Dragon's Teeth Tank Traps, 12 Czech Hedgehogs, and 4 mortars. All pieces are about 1:32nd scale and made from fairly stiff, very durable, polypropylene or ABS plastic with medium detail and very little flashing. Figures stand up to 2.45 inches tall. The bunker measures 7.62 x 2.75 x 3.1 inches tall, not including the cannon which measures 5 inches long. The landing craft boat measures 12.8 x 3.9 x 3.25 inches tall. It's expensive for what it is but Santa's generosity knows no bounds when it comes to the joy of a child. The box it comes in looks similiar to the Utah Beach set by the same maker. The box art is neat and reminded me of what impact art work and packaging have on a child and how they relate that to the imagination part of playing with the toys. On the back of the box it shows a sample set up of the playset which I think helps a young child understand more about what the toy represents. But all that aside the pieces were durable and made out of quality plastic that isn't brittle. The soldiers come in poses that make sense. The right mix of beach obstacles and gun emplacements make it realistic. The damaged french farmhouse is a nice touch as the soldiers can be placed in position at the windows. The Higgins boats are close to scale. Both American and British landing forces are represented adding to the historical factor. One thing I did not expect was that several real life people are represented within the axis and allied plastic figures. They even have Rommel himself represented in his regalia despite the fact he was eating birthday strussel with his family on D-Day. I give this product a high rating even though my kid hasn't seen it yet for this main reason: It looks and feels like a realistic and quality playset with educational value that will allow me to teach him about an important part of our history.
