This unit changed all that.We now do a lot of sous vide cooking and sear the heck out of meats, poultry, fish and veggies after removal from the sous vide machine. Bring on the woks, carbon steel pans and cast iron!Our kitchen's high-temperature built in gas grill would be unusable without this. Which would be a real winter loss in frigid northern Minnesota.Unlike another reviewer, I've never had unexpected turn-ons or offs and our vent remote works well when called upon. IMHO, not really necessary, just something to play with. RE: their wifi suspicions, we have Comcast and wifi-repeaters and devices throughout our home. Kitchen wall is right next to garage with rf openers. Never an issue in 2 years. You can always call the manufacturer for help (3 year warranty) or just remove the internal antenna wire if you don't need the remote control.LED lights provide more than enough light for cooking. I almost had contractors add external focussed lighting (we do lots of evening cooking) but I'm glad we did not! Even when other kitchen lighting is significantly reduced, the built in LEDs (specifically did not want halogen) are all my older eyes need.The Baffle type grease filters are a very effective and welcome alternative to the typical residential wire mesh air and grease capture systems. Beautiful industrial look and really easy to remove and pop into the dishwasher. Skinny grease-trap tray is too long for the dishwasher, but pops right out and easy clean in standard sink.This is remarkably powerful when turned to highest level fan setting. 4 lower settings very effective when you're not creating billowing clouds of smoke. But what fun is that? How else will you entertain your non-cooking dinner guests? Modern tightly constructed homes should have air make-up units or be tested if you intend to use its full capabilities. 715 cubic feet/minute for a home is not a trivial ventilation fan! Coupled with a good outdoor ducting system, this or a similar unit will change your cooking life.Effective Kitchen smoke, heat and odor removal can make a wonderful improvement to your home. If you must, you can adjust this unit's 715 cubic feet per minute maximum to top out at 300 cfm (to meet some newer state and local code restrictions) but that defeats the purpose of a high volume unit like this. There are almost always construction alternatives possible to ensure adequate home air-flow and maintain the full capabilities of a higher-end unit.If you're doing a kitchen remodel and/or you are a serious cook, a higher powered residential unit like this will make your life a lot easier! And when incorporated into your cabinetry, it can give your kitchen that custom cabinet look which may make your kitchen a sales asset.Last tip, Backsplash:consider a larger format flat seamless-as-possible wall backsplash covering between the stove and Zephyr ventilation system. We installed 3x3 foot quartz composite wall panels and cleanup is fast and a dream compared to an older tile-covered wall. Plan ahead and happy cooking! ### ⭐ Ghost in the Machine... *by I***S on Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2019* Bought the Zephyr 34 unit for a remodel and it works fine. However, it appears to be very susceptible to outside RF interference, as it will come on by itself. I have removed the remote, tried re-synchronizing it and it will still come on. I made sure it was not on the timed 4 hour mode. Either there is a ghost in my house turning it on at odd hours of the night, or some RF is affecting it....perhaps a garage door opener, Comcast Wifi modem update...who knows but not fun seeing it run for no reason.My advise is to buy a unit without the remote control and save the trouble.
