I only had to use one power adapter and plug the strip in versus having a separate adapter for each of my devices! This became especially necessary after my travelling companion forgot both her adapters and her power strip despite numerous reminders, so I had to charge both of our cameras, both of our phones, both of our Kindles, AND my laptop all on my strip! Obviously we had to take turns, but either way, our batteries would have been dead a lot more often without this strip. I was also a popular gal at the airport gates where power outlets were at a premium, so I made friends!What makes this particular strip so special? The strip itself is extremely compact and fit well inside the tiny front pocket of my carry-on backpack. The cord is long enough to add some distance between you and the wall plug but conveniently has an attached velcro strip that is actually quite handy in bundling it back up. This made getting ready to hop on the plane a much quicker process than it would be packing away various chargers and wrapping up a giant power strip. I also invested in some short Micro USB cables  Micro USB Cable, 1ft 0.3m Extra Short Nylon Braided Eversame[3-Pack] High Speed Sync Charger Cable Cord for Android Phones & Tablet，Samsung, HTC, LG, External Battery Chargers and more-Black  as that's what most of my devices take and just left them plugged in for even quicker pack up.The strip was more than sufficient to charge all my devices, even when I used various adapters with it. The material feels very solid, and the strip even comes with a "free gift" of velcro cable ties which also feel heavy duty. I'll admit, I didn't really use these much, as I got those short charging cords to avoid having more to wrap up. Either way it's a nice bonus!All in all, I HIGHLY recommend purchasing this before your next major travel. That said, after three years of light use they are both failing in the same way. The internal contacts get too loose to reliably power devices. IE you plug your laptop in to charge overnight, but in the morning it's battery is still dead because the contacts in the power strip weren't making contact.
