## Description

TP-Link PoE Splitter | 802. 3af Compliant | Gigabit Port | 5/9/12V DC Power Output | Up to 100 meters(325 feet) (TL-PoE10R). The PoE Splitter TL-POE10R fully complies with IEEE 802.3af standard, and can work with all IEEE 802.3af compliant PoE switches and PoE Injector such as TP-LINK’s TL-POE150S, to expand your network to where you wish to place network devices but has no power outlet.

Review: Works great to power bring alarm base station with POE. - I use this to power my ring alarm base station with POE. This allowed me to install the ring alarm base station on the wall, without having to run a separate AC power cable down the wall.
Review: Nice little unit, does the job inexpensively - Already had a PoE "injector" unit, and this provided the needed downstream/terminating piece to run a non-PoE network switch. Included instructions are clear, and the unit comes with a length of Ethernet cable and a short DC female/female adapter cable for powering the device. Unit has an on/off switch, a selector for 5vDC, 9vDC, and 12vDC that should accommodate most devices, and there's a green indicator light. As-noted in another review, the plastic shell is thin and the unit feels a bit insubstantial. On the other hand, it's never going to be under physical load, so for the price I'm going to give it a pass on that score. Will very-likely buy again, Just To Have One Around.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this come with a AC>DC wall wart/block adapter? Or is this just the injector and you supply the 48VDC power supply?**
A: The confusion is about which of the models is selected and what their purposes are. The INJECTOR comes with a wall wart. The SPLITTER does not. Here's why; The INJECTOR supplies DC voltage TO the CAT5 cable which then connects to a POE capable device. The SPLITTER splits power FROM a powered CAT5 cable into two outputs - one is to the Ethernet data cable. The other is for a DC power cable to power a non-POE device. The KIT comes with BOTH devices. The TL-POE-150S INJECTOR user guide, page 3 states: "Connect to the provided power adapter which can supply steady power of 48V DC." The injector connects to a POE capable device using only the powered CAT5 cable. The SPLITTER, however, does not have a wall wart, but instead uses the power from an injector connected to it by a CAT5 cable. The Splitter splits the power from the cable to a jack that has a selectable voltage output for a Non-POE capable device needing power and Ethernet connection.See http://static.tp-link.com/resources/document/TL-POE150S_V3_User_Guide.pdf for the user guide for the ADAPTER.Note - you can connect non-POE devices to a POE network, so you do not need two ethernet networks. However, POE devices can't be powered on a non-POE ethernet network, and some POE devices can't power other POE devices. POE devices can receive and send data over a non-POE network, but they must be powered from another source like a wall wart or other power supply.

**Q: What is the output amps?**
A: Just checked mine, and the label on the back says that the output is 48 volts DC at 0.35 amps.

**Q: I will be using this for IP camera. What is the difference between injector and splitter? I see there is a cost differance but they look the same.**
A: Short answer; a network injector combines ethernet and power and sends it over your ethernet cable. A splitter does the reverse. It separates the power from the ethernet cable.

Used together; they are a handy way to remotely power a device that cannot be powered by simply using POE (power over ethernet). I used them to power an unmanaged switch in my attic, which I cannot power with a wall wart. Then I can run cable drops to network demanding equipment instead of connecting wirelessly. (like a gaming console and 4K Roku's) My mesh WIFI only provides around 60-100Mbps and I get over 900Mbps using an ethernet cable.

**Q: Has anyone hacked their own splitter to the other end of this thing? What pair is used for (+) and what pair is used for (-) V? Ya ya, be careful...**
A: According to the 802.3af standard that this device adheres to, Mode B will allow a "hacked on" passive splitter on the other end. The flip side is that while the specification requires support for both Mode A and Mode B the power injector automatically decides which mode to use and your "splitter" or end device has no choice in the matter. "In mode B, pins 4-5 (pair #1 in both T568A and T568B) form one side of the DC supply and pins 7-8 (pair #4 in both T568A and T568B) provide the return; these are the "spare" pairs in 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX. Mode B, therefore, requires a 4-pair cable." I purchased the TP-Link POE splitter, it is cheap, easy, works great. Mine had a choice of 3 common voltages (5v, 9v, 12v I believe) but other splitters have only 2 output voltage choices.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product, works well, very affordable.
*by B***L on October 26, 2015*

Compact, good looking units, working well for me! At first I ordered the individual units (injector & splitter) but then noticed they are available as a "kit" for less money, doh! I then ordered the kit too thinking I would return the individual pieces. However, on the kit (POE injector+splitter) the units are white plastic, are 10/100 only and non 802.3af compliant. The POE injector and splitter when ordered separately are black plastic, are gigabit and 802.3af compliant. Seems very odd. POE injector comes with the 48v adapter. I ended up keeping all of them. I needed to connect 2 building that are 150 meters apart with a CAT5e ethernet cable. The maximum cable length for ethernet is 100 meters. So I needed to divide the 150m into 50m and 100m sections then add a switch at the 50m mark. However there is no AC power anywhere between those two buildings. I used this TP-LINK PoE injector & splitter kit with the PoE injector placed at the beginning of the cable, the splitter (which acts like a switch) placed at the 50 meter mark powered from the PoE injector and the ethernet cable continues on for the last 100m. I don't use the 5/9/12V output for anything. I used the white units from the "kit", everything is working very well. Saved the black gigabit units for spares, might upgrade to the gigabit ones if client needs more network speed.
