No need to push them down or take them off if you want to look at the TV, etc. They do not have spring hinges but the arms are very flexible so they have a similar comfort fit to spring hinges. The frame is plastic, as are the lenses. One cool feature is that the end of each arm is covered in a silicone material that has lots of tiny ridges. This works very well to keep your glasses from sliding down your nose. They stay in place.I usually wear Calabria Reading Glasses 718 Flexie, which I love, but they take a while to ship. These are very similar, although the frame isn't quite as high quality, IMO. However, I got two pairs for less than the price of one pair of Calabria Flexies and they look remarkably similar. The only thing I wish is that these came in more colors. As an aging woman, I find that lighter color frames are more flattering on me and I generally wear a deep pink frame. They are super light weight and the quality seems good (just got them yesterday) and so comfy for long wearing. The traction on the "arms" make them stay put, less slidish as other glasses. I just like everything about it. Now if they came in other colors, I'd buy even more.
