It was not a deep red, but a bright red, almost pink...which was okay for my Poison Ivy costume. Does tangle easily and I had some trouble with it slipping back...had to readjust it when I got to the party! Comes with a net that you wear under to keep your hair contained but the adjustable buckles had no place to hook on to on the wig! I don't know how it can be adjustable without a loop or something to fasten to. I ended up putting the buckles through the netting on the wig itself so it was able to hold on to something to keep the sizing...poor design or someone fell asleep while making this in the factory!
