They're lighter than the others I have used, but more emphasis is put on the areas that would wear out first. The bottom is thicker, which protects against any cracking due to "dragging". I also like the handles. They are tightly woven. Also, there are "tabs" on each side of the handle which will guard against the handle slipping thru the holes of the bucket.
