There is definitely a physiological reaction that takes place. I wouldn't necessarily same that you become enlightened right away. But you *can* feel your blood coursing a little stronger, your brain and eye activity seems to heighten a little tiny bit. The more you eat, the more you feel it. I wouldn't suggest eating a whole package at one time. I eat about a half a package a day. It's somewhat similar to the feeling of drinking an espresso shot. A little blast of focus, kind of a hyper-awareness that drifts into your psyche for about an hour or two after eating it. Haven't had any long term effects that I'd consider negative, but I'm not sure that I would make this part of my "normal, every day routine.I guess my overall perspective is that the best way to 'heighten' your senses is naturally - with exercise, good food, marital relationship(s), meditation, etc. This *does* have an effect, but it's hard to say that it's something you can't get in better ways. I still give it a 5/5 star rating, because as far as candied ginseng goes, this does seem like a good quality product.
