Review: BOILED Linseed Oil - Awesome Finish, Makes Wood Grain Pop - Highly Recommended - This is a great product. I have been looking for BOILED Linseed Oil for the longest time but I could only ever find it in large size jugs of a gallon or more, or the overpriced chemically mixed one. This oil works great, has very little [and also tolerable] odor and the price was right. First used it on my hammer's wood handle and it has restored the beauty of the wood. Had this hammer for nearly 20 years and got a LOT of use out of it. The wood was in good shape but visibly used & old. Putting about 10-15 coats of this oil on it has made it look almost brand new again. Now I'm currently using it on the Hickory handle of my Council Tools Woodcraft 24" Axe. I've put on about 10 coats (out of 20 planned) and it has already begun to show a beautiful finish on the axe handle. It was already a beautiful and smooth piece of wood, but after applying this oil it has really brought out the wood grain and has already created a very nice lustre as well. Can't wait to see what it looks like after the full job is done. The only thing I would advise other users is to be mindful of how they dispose of any rags, gloves, etc...that are used for application of the oil. It's certainly not dangerous in and of itself, but in some cases it has been known to become unstable and possibly catch fire/blow if you dispose of carelessly, crumble up oil-soaked rags in the garbage with no breathing room or without washing them. Extremely easy to avoid any of these issues, though. Me personally I apply with a disposable glove - sometimes in tandem with a paper towel or small hand-rag. Once finished, I rinse the glove & rags with warm water and either Palmolive or Dawn dish soap prior to throwing in the trash. Dawn works best for oil/grease but Palmolive has also been good for this. I've done it this way daily and had absolutely NO problems. Doing your clean-up this way simultaneously creates peace of mind and minimizes any lingering smell from permeating the garbage bag/trash can. I have never had any problems this way. Overall I definitely recommend this product for any wood treatments you have around the house. It's great.
Review: Good product! - Worked well on my projects. Happy with purchase.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this a food grade wood finish?**
A: No it is not, it contains metallic drying agents. Food grade mineral oil is likely your best option.

**Q: Can I use on my new acacia wood patio furniture? Do I need to sand if it’s new?**
A: It really depends on the furniture you bought. Usually finished furnitures have a finish coating on them or are already oiled. I would suggest you to sand them before application.

Remember that furnitures previously oiled might not look good if you re-oil them with a different type of oil than the one previously applied to them.

**Q: This could be used on outdoor windchimes to protect them?**
A: Hi, Yes, the Boiled Linseed Oil can be used to protect wood that is situated outdoor so your intended use would be suitable.Kind Regards,Furniture Clinic

**Q: can this product be used on the plastic of atv's to restore shine? I was told it could.**
A: Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding our Boiled Linseed Oil which is a product used to seal and protect all types of wood (except exterior oak), table tops and food preparation surfaces, cricket bats, snooker cues & musical instruments, front doors & outside furniture, terracotta tiles, concrete and other stone items. Unfortunately our Boiled Linseed Oil was not made to work with plastics.

Worked well on my projects. Happy with purchase.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ High quality boiled linseed oil
*by A***O on April 4, 2026*

Went on a little thick but looks pretty good once it fully cures, which can actually take quite awhile…..sometimes a few days or more, imo. Just be careful about how you dispose of the rags after use. Chuck the rags into a bucket of water and then lie them flat on concrete outside until they dry. Never toss them crinkled into a waste basket. They’re very flammable while damp
