Review: Good value - I used to do a lot of photography in the days of film. I had a couple single Lens Reflex cameras. I did not adapt to Digital well mainly because of the cost of the lenses. but I came across this Canon Rebel Ti4 and the guy gave it to me, but the lens on it was a 18 - 55 F3.5 lens. So It was difficult getting good wild life shots. I saw this Tamron lens for $200 and wondered what was wrong with it but have had several Tamron lenses in the past so thought I would give it a go. So I will compare it to the original 18 x 55 lens that was on the camera. First thing I noticed. It was heavier. to be expected, you have a lot more lens. So it will be heavier. Then I notice when zoomed in the lens to 18mm it is about the same length as the original 18 x 55. a little bigger diameter, I think the filter size is 64 versus 58 or something like that. I tried same light conditions at different focal lengths. I did not notice aperture loss between the two. meaning at 18 mm and 55 mm I needed and could get the same aperture for both at the same shutter speed. The zoom on the Tamron was tighter. The Canon was easier but the Tamron was not hard to zoom. but considering for the same twist, you are zooming almost 4x the length so I will accept that. it is mechanical advantage. When zoomed out to 200 the Tamron is about 2 x the length of the Canon lens. hence the weight. The Tamron auto focus is super quiet. you do not hear it. Now if you like hearing it too bad, you don't have to worry about the sound of the auto focus scaring away that humming bird with the Tamron. The Tamron has a zoom lock that locks it at 18 mm for storage. which is nice but maybe not necessary as it is pretty tight and does not move on its own anyway. For me I think the lens is great. I have not used it enough to comment on picture quality but for the price and adjust ability I think it is great. not super fast, but not a slouch. I would say why pay more for an every day lens. I think I still would like to get a lens down into the 1.2 f stop area. but they get pricey
Review: Fantastic Prime Lens - I have a Canon SL1 purchased a few years ago. Like most people I take most all my photos outdoors, visit National Parks. I was tired of carrying a bag full of lens and wanted to get my camera bag down to two lens. First let me say I'm not a professional photographer but love taking great photo's. My goal was to find a light all in one lens, close up and zoom. Up to this point my Canon 55-250mm was my prime lens. Then a friend told me about a newer version of Tamron lens, the 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di ll VC. I loved the 18mm for close ups and 200mm would be plenty for zooming in. It weighted 1.19 lbs compared to my Canon 55-250mm at 0.83 lbs. Not much different until I took some photos. I was really impress and pleased with it's performance especially when getting close up photos, sweet. I carry three lens in my bag now, I know I said I wanted only two, my nifty 50 and 24mm pancake lens. If I'm in the city I use my nifty 50 during the daytime and my 24mm in low light conditions. BIG TIP: be sure your firmware on your Canon camera is up to date or the Tamron may struggle communicating with your Canon. Easy and free to update firmware. Call Canon at 1-800-652-2666, they're super.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great addition for my camera arsenal!
*by C***2 on June 9, 2017*

A great addition to my camera lenses!! I love that I don't have to keep changing my lenses for up close to distant shots all the time. This works great for taking flowers, birds & animal pictures.A must have for these kinds of picture taking. I'm going to have fun taking all kinds of bird pictures with this great lens! The auto-focus & anti-shake features work great for my Canon Rebel EOS SL1 camera!! This is really a great lens for the price. Works great for the beginner to intermediate photographer alike. Good luck!
