I would also recommend to NOT pull out the residing electrical cord all the way. I just pull it out a bit and attach the extension cord. No reason to add strain to the existing electrical cord. I would absolutely buy this vac again. It is a GREAT shop vac. And by the way, I had to find one that only had these smaller diameter wands for I have loads of accessories from my last machine that I wanted to utilize. The CARTRIDGE filter is the main filter - NOT to be used for LIQUID vacuuming. The SPONGE filter is evidently used for LIQUID vacuuming. This SPONGE "sock-like" filter fits (stretches) over the same cage as the CARTRIDGE filter. The SPONGE tore the first time I tried to stretch it over the cage. I don't do LIQUID vacuuming in any case. The HEPA filter fits in its own little space and seems to do nothing but be "politically correct." It doesn't seem to get dirty. I have no clue how the folded paper DUST COLLECTOR works. The CARTRIDGE and HEPA filters are fairly easily cleanable. So Thank You for designing this Vac! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Potential problem with the suction *by M***S on April 30, 2023* The suction on this unit was surprisingly poor, upon first use. I removed the filter bag I had installed that came with the unit, just to see if it would help. That increased the suction significantly, so now I am happy. Typically shop vacs do not have a filter bags so using it without, should work out just fine. The hepa filter though works fine and is a great feature, for my old shop vac that this is replacing, would always blow dust back into the room every time I turned it on (very unhealthy). This will not do that because of the hepa filter. This unit is very easy to move around and I was able to vacuum up my garage floor quickly. The retractable cord is pretty much worthless but the cord winds around the unit quite easily.
