Review: Simple, Reliable Condensate Trap That Works as Designed - a great product—easy to install, solid build, and most importantly, no leaks. It fits perfectly on a 3/4-inch condensate line and does exactly what it’s supposed to. The clear design also makes it easy to check for clogs or buildup. Definitely worth the money for a reliable and maintenance-friendly trap.
Review: Adjust easily and handy cleanouts - I saw this when I was looking for traps to replace the clogged trap that was installed correctly but had no access for any type of clean out or maintenance. Consequently I'd been using a 5 gallon bucket to catch the condensation until I got everything I needed to replace it. Not something I would recommend but it worked in a pinch and it gave me a new appreciation for how much moisture the air handler or the condenser or whatever takes out of the air every 24 hours. It's been very humid here the last few days and I'd been emptying the bucket once a day with about three or four gallons of water in it. Anyway, this Rectorseal trap was just what I needed as I had to retrofit it in between the two lines. It's adjustable of course until you permanently glue it in place so it was very easy to fit to both sides that were stationary. Of course I have some plumbing experience but even if you don't if you take your time it's easy to fit and the added plus is you have the many different cleanouts. If you look in the photo you can see that I've added two rubbers slip joints that can also be removed so the entire assembly can come out for future cleaning. I've decided that the best bet is to do maintenance on it once a year and make sure the lines are clear so that condensation can flow out. If you forget about it it will build up and eventually start to form clogs which will make the condensation back up and you'll have quite a mess. This seems to be working quite well so far after a day or two with no leaks and a good water flow out of the house. I definitely recommend this particular trap if you want a way to clean out and maintain your condensation line.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it come with the red caps?**
A: Love them. I put them on 5 unit's at a Dentist office. Makes my job easier.

**Q: Can this be installed anywhere on the condensate line? I've a mobile home with AC installed in a tiny closet and need to install it below the pan.**
A: Ideally, you want the trap right off the evaporator coil with a tee and air vent on the outlet. If you can’t do that, it should work below the floor. Drop off the coil through the floor. Put an elbow off the outlet of your drop and run a 4” to 6” piece of pipe to the trap inlet. Run the trap outlet into the side outlet of a tee. The ends of the tee should be vertical (one facing up and one facing down). Put a 4” to 6” piece of open pipe into the upward facing end of the tee. This is your air vent. It gives air in the drain a place to escape and helps the condensate to drain better. Run a pipe from the downward facing end of the tee to a floor drain, condensate pump or sump crock - wherever you want the condensate to ultimately drain. Good luck.

**Q: Can it be used on a roof unit with heavy sun exposure?**
A: These units are made with PVC plastic and can become brittle with age after prolonged exposure to UV light from the sun. However, depending where your outside is, I would be more concerned with condensate water in the tubing loop, or trap, that could freeze and damage the plastic, thereby rendering the unit inoperable.

**Q: Should pvc come out the lower red capped piece for a vent?**
A: No the upper portal is where the PVC tube from the equipment drain goes into. The lower portal is where the PVC tube continues out to your drain there is no vent tube. If you think you need a vent then open the highest red capped cover because if theres a backup the open capped is where it will run over unless you put a tube in that is higher than the drain hole on the equipment that you are using the tube to take the fluids away. But then you will have an over flow in your equipment if there is no over flow protection system to shut off your equipment.

*by C***S on July 11, 2025*

This is the best condensate P-Trap I've used. There are sealed covers for convenient clean-out, and the trap is clear for easy inspection. It appears to be very well made. The clear tube and other pieces accepted PVC glue well with no leaks.
