Initially, I had some trouble restarting Time Machine and connecting to ssd so I had to reboot the laptop to get it to work again. However, once it began backing up, it was impressively fast—160 GB in just an hour. The drive did become quite hot during the process, which is a bit concerning. Overall, I'm pleased with its performance, but I'm worried about potential mounting issues or damage due to the heat it generates. A few days later they came back and said that they had proof it was a legitimate WD device and they registered it on their records for me. A load of firms would just wash their hands. Quite please with it all - except that the data cable is far too short & it sits too high on the PC. Also, know this isn’t the question but FWIW, I’m using it with my Mac PowerBook as a "Time machine" back up, but I had to format it with the disk utility first. **Q: Could i use a wd usb-c cable with this?** A: It appears the My Passport and the My Passport Ultra take you to the same Questions and Reviews. Amazon seem to do this a lot and need to fix it. The Ultra supports USB-C (and seems to be more expensive). Check before you click to buy. One last thing, it's not worth paying more for the Mac versions, though you may need to reformat. **Q: I've a pc and a mac...can i format it in 2 partitions ? one mac formatted and another windows pc formatted ?** A: This should be possible, though if you want to use the drive with both mac and windows devices you would be better off formatting the partition in exFAT format, which allows both OSX and Windows read and write access.
