It may take a while to get them to eat it. It needs to be in a place they visit and needs to be there long enough for them to get use to it. Rats may take longer than mice bcz mice are more adventurous. Hope this helps **Q: Can I put some peanut butter in the tray to help attract the rats to it?** A: We highly suggest not using peanut butter. Due to the patented process any other intake besides the pellets could interfere with the desired outcome. **Q: is it waters proof ?** A: Don't know, never got it wet.
