I am not a bike tech but I like to learn in the fly and was successful, thanks to the kit. There are no instructions but honestly, they weren’t needed. The amount of shifter cable housing that came with the kit was more than adequate for my bike and I imagine for many bikes. Since the number of housing end caps varies on bikes, hold onto the ones you have just in case you need them. Also, it really helps to have the right tools. I already had a Park cable cutter but I had to use my dremel to cut the housing because none of my non-bike specific cutters worked without damaging the housing core. I crafted a “jig” (see image) with a thin piece of wood that had a hole to accommodate the housing. I marked the housing where I needed to cut it, inserted it through the hole and cut it with the dremel cutting wheel — flush to the wood and perpendicular to the cable housing. Voila! Done deal! Nice and straight shifter housing. Images 1- new housing for shifters 2- shifter for housing headed toward the derailleurs 3- shifter housing from the seat post going to rear and front derailleurs 4- my simple “shifter cutting jig.” Can’t believe I came up with it. This kit was excellent and more than adequate to get the job done.
