I use them mostly to protect our wood table from microwaved plates. We kept getting those darn steam/heat white marks on our table and these have saved the day (and the table!) They do not slip and slide around on the surface. They are advertised as withstanding heat to 500 degrees. I have since given away two of them to family members who were equally impressed with their worth.
