It will help with getting an even cut as long as you want it to be the lengths in the kit. **Q: Can someone tell me what the comb guards are equivalent to clipper guards in size wise? For example the 1/2 is 0.6cm so is that a #2 clipper guard?** A: My clipper guards have all that information. You have to turn them to get the proper lighting on the markings, but the guard has the #, and it will also state how many inches (or fractions of an inch) that particular guard is. I'm sorry I couldn't help more, but I've hidden my clippers from myself, and my CombPal is in the same case. Having tried to fashion cutting guides of my own with mixed success I was amazed to find that someone had actually managed it. Yes, the price is steep for a few pieces of plastic but it is very cheap for the convenience of having perfectly cut hair at a moment's notice. It takes a little bit of practice to be able to do it for yourself so don't try it when you are in a rush, but once you get the hang of it it is very easy and it is wonderful to be able to cut with confidence. My first cut was graduated from a half inch to around 3 inches and I now have a wash and wear cut that looks salon fresh.
