The loud door bell type ring was ideal as we could hear it all over the house. The signal reached to the back of our garden easily 30 foot away. We didn't use the cord though, we used a safety pin and attached to his pyjamas pocket so he could easily locate the alarm buzzer. This device eased a lot of anxiety on both sides when we had to leave our relatives side to attend to cooking etc. Really easy to set up straight from receiving. An excellent purchase!
