C comes from corn???** A: According to NOW (manufacturer) it states it is NON GMO. All corn is GMO'd. These are not derived from corn. I don't think NOW food would be foolish enough to state it was NON GMO and then bottle and sell a product to try to pass it off as such. They have an 800 number, if you are not finding an answer, I would call them and clarify. **Q: Is this product Vegetarian?** A: Yes. This product is vegetarian. Includes a silica and vegetarian coating. **Q: Is this similar to ester c?** A: No. This is Calcium Ascorbate. Much gentler on the digestive system. Ester-C is a pH neutral product which has a different composition from regular vitamin C, which is ascorbic acid. The main component of Ester-C is calcium ascorbate also but with other ingredients added. Other ingredients of Ester-C are compounds known as vitamin C metabolites, which are dehydroascorbic acid and calcium threonate. The manufacturer of Ester-C claims that it possesses superior bioavailability over vitamin C (absorbing acid) but available research does not support this, the Linus Pauling Institute reports.
