It does have a waxier/stiffer consistency that other bead balms I have tried, but it still melts on your fingers and is just as easy to apply as softer balms.It definitely shapes the beard better than the other balms I have tried. It controls the stiff wiry stray hairs, and even brings in and shapes the hairs that want to grow in a different direction than you are trying to comb them in. Conditioning is also excellent.The scent is very nice; I liked it as soon as I opened the package. It's a little orangie and a little sweet but not too strong. The smell is also amazing, many beard products smell the same but this one stands out as superior smelling as well. 6/5 stars on this product. I was upset when I couldn't get it during the pandemic but now that it's back I hope it's here to stay. Honest Amish did a great job of keeping my beard conditioned, but it provided very little control for my fly away hairs. Urban Nomads does the trick. It does an excellent job of locking down my fly away hairs and keeps it well conditioned. I don't have much experience with beard wax to compare this stuff too, but this has more of a substantive feel to it, and definitely goes on thicker (its kind of like a heavier weight oil) than the other balms I have used. It melts well and works into my beard easily. Holds well without feeling stiff and leaves very little oil feel behind. The scent is definitely different, but not unpleasant at all. it does fade away within an hour or so.
