I have not tried thin metal but it would probably work. - Great gift idea for any guitarist or anyone that does lots of crafts projects.Cons: - The punch is very stiff. If you have small or weak hands, you will have difficulty pressing it all the way down. - It leaves kind of rough edges on the punched picks.
