Yamaha Montage6 61-key Synthesizer Workstation, Black

I had Yamaha motif XS6 for about 10 years and I always wanted a 88 keys version of it. Having a motif for 10 years gave me good confidence is to update to another Yamaha keyboard a flagship one that is. I also received 2 Yamaha monitors as a complimentary offer after I filled the form at Yamaha's site. Beautiful solid keyboard very well made, high-quality item. The sound is amazing and I am still learning the machine and the details, this is a beast but it is easy to use and it is pretty much self-explanatory having a touch screen makes things a breeze. It is completely different machine than my Motif XS, I like my motif's performance presets and it is ready to go and jam, not the montage I have to learn how to make and build my backing tracks, meaning I have to really dig deep, I guess what this keyboard is all about. It is like a photoshop program you have to get involved more to create that unique music. I am an amateur so this is my hobby and I am sure professional guys will get more out of this machine than I ever could. I love it.

This synth workstation is great. I got the HS5 monitors and HS8S Subwoofer too, which are perfect for my small home studio (the room is like 8' x 8'). I can't really compare the Montage 8 to the Korg Karma which it replaced. That wouldn't be fair to Korg since the Karma is a mid-range synth. I simply have never heard a synthesizer that sounds as good as this Yamaha Montage 8. The attention to detail in the sounds is impressive. The workmanship in the keys, and body and action is major league. I am so happy with this purchase. My wife thought it was just an overpriced toy until she played it herself and then she was no longer mad at me for the amount of money I spent on it. After using it for a few weeks. I like it even more. Great synth!

This is a great addition to anyone's studio, which is what I'm using it for. Sounds are amazing, and give that radio quality right away. Also. I'm able to upgrade it and customize sounds, so the gripe about how the sounds compare to the other brands are moot (they can always be customized). Definitely worth the price!

This product is almost the perfect machine. The sound quality is unmatched. Its intuitive design is reminiscent of the old motif design so it's easy to convert. The production tools are easy to use and to figure out. The only down side would be the weight. The Montague 8 is HEAVY!!! It more than makes up for the weight issue in value, however is weighs approximately150lbs, It not very portable. I suggest a smaller version if you are a traveling musician

I totally love this keyboard. Best investment I've ever made. The sounds of this machine blew me away. I played this keyboard alongside a Motif XF 8, and i really did hear a difference in the clarity of the Montage. Only thing that I wished the Montage still had was a proper sequence or even the DAW control alone if Yamaha didn't want to outfit it with a proper sequencer. But besides that, this keyboard is definitely a beast. I will definitely recommend it to anyone considering it.

I have the Motif XF and was skeptical that the sounds would be all that much different. There are sounds here that are directly taken from the Motif and for the most part they are VERY similar in sound, i.e. the sound difference is not that dramatic. However, it's the new sounds and more importantly, the control and modulation that really takes this unit over the top. It is not a workstation and for that I am not selling my Motif. I also have custom patches installed on my Motif so it's worth keeping for that as well. That being said, this unit blew me away. If you are looking for a unit that has beautiful natural and synth sounds, then this unit is for you!

When I tried to make a song there was no way to layer it. It just went on a non-stop loop. Bad product for 4200 dollars! What a piece of junk!

I started with a dx7, traded up to a SY99, And now the montage. I kept the SY99. The 8 operator FM engine is 128 note poly. Keyboard feel suites me. Sample instruments are great with the superknob mod. This is what I wanted in a synth.

Lo utilizo tanto para estudio de grabación como para eventos de música versátil en vivo. Para estudio tiene muy buenos bajos y baterías aunque si requieren un poco más de procesamiento cuando están en el DAW… para tocar en vivo es muy fácil crear los programas y dividir el teclado como se necesite de manera práctica… lo único malo que le veo es el peso para tocar en vivo

Es la mejor compra que he hecho

Es el sintetizador más potente actualmente dentro de la oferta de Yamaha, dirigido sobre todo a teclistas de directo y diseñadores sonoros/productores musicales. Una filosofía de diseño distinta cimentada sobre la plataforma MOTIF con amplísimas extensiones que le permiten llegar a nuevos lugares. La inclusión de la síntesis FM y las nuevas formas de onda (incluye todas los sonidos de MOTIF XF también) le otorgan una paleta sonora muy destacable. Mención aparte merecen los “nuevos” sonidos como el piano CFX, las secciones de cuerdas y las secciones de aliento metal además de nuevas guitarras y bajos. Cuenta además con una excelente calidad de sonido, muy cristalino, buen volumen de salida, y la posibilidad de integración con sonido digital y MIDI a través de USB para DAW. No cuenta con secuenciador, al menos no en la manera en que está implementado en MOTIF, como dije, la filosofía de diseño y uso es diferente, tiene una enorme cantidad de controladores y switches que permiten programarse de acuerdo a las necesidades de cada teclista. Si buscas utilizarlo para reproducir secuencias programadas en formato MIDI, definitivamente creo que no es para ti. La interfaz de usuario si bien es muy vasta, no es sencilla ni demasiado intuitiva en mi experiencia, a pesar de estar familiarizado con la plataforma MOTIF y aún cuando algunos elementos y nociones siguen presentes, es necesario invertir varias horas para comprender a profundidad la enorme cantidad de opciones que existen en este instrumento. Sin embargo, a aquellos que gustan de editar y crear sus propios sonidos encontrarán una enorme y compleja pero capaz cantidad de herramientas con resultados excelentes. Por último pero no menos importante, es un instrumento excelentemente construido, sólido, con deslizables, potenciómetros y switches de primera. No hay palabras para describir la acción y diseño del mecanismo teclado, simple y sencillamente nunca he tocado nada igual (versión FSX de 61 teclas). En general, todo el instrumento se siente como si subieras a un automóvil de altas prestaciones y lujo comparado con un compacto familiar con buenas prestaciones (hablando de un teclado de gama media por ejemplo). También es altamente confiable y tarda muy poco tiempo en arrancar el SO.

Me encantaron sus sonidos, una vez programado es muy sencillo tocar en vivo, con un solo dedo podemos pasar de un performance a otro, la pantalla está increible. Aunque como todo, tenemos que editar canción por canción para poder tenerlo al 100 en los eventos, llevo dos meses con el y aun no termino de armar todos mis set! Hay que comprar los pedales oficiales de Yamaha y si uno quiere ahorrarse tiempo también hay software para edición de performance con costo aparte aunque sin duda fue una gran compra.

Llevo años queriendo tener este mega piano, y ahora que lo tengo lo disfruto mucho!! Suena impresionante!! Y las combinaciones de sonidos permite fácilmente editar varias capas para diferentes partes de una canción!!
