So if a particular individual burns without sunscreen in 20 minutes, an SPF 28 product would allow him to be in the sun 28 times before burning, that is, 560 minutes. An SPF 30 product would allow him to stay in the sun 30 times the time he would start to burn, that is 30 times 20 is 600 minutes. That's ten hours,and it seems like a lot. The thing is, we are advised to reapply sunscreen every 2 hours anyway, so why use the 30 instead of 28 SPF?
