## Description

Starbar Fly Terminator Pro

Review: 60 Second Magic - Have you ever seen something that is equally gross but effectively awesome at the same time? Look no further- this has it covered! I live in western KY and the flies here are absolutely awful. Think: being outside with your eyes closed and swearing you are standing next to a bee hive or hornet's nest, but you open your eyes and the reality is it's freaking flies. Yes. There are that many! They cover the grass, the flowers, the trees, outdoor furniture, etc. Inevitably some travel indoors even with only having the door open long enough for entering and exiting (for indoor trouble with flies, try the window sticker strips; these have done wonders indoors for me!). The jar itself is straightforward with easy to follow directions. It is supplied with two bait packs. You open the tear package to find the powdered bait insides a disintegrating pod, which is lovely because the stink is powerful. Toss the pod into the container and add water to the fill line. To help get the bait good and mixed I used a Dollar Tree slotted serving spoon that I knew I could toss out afterwards to stir it all up. You will get whiffs of how potent the mix is once the water dissolves the pod. Before twisting the top back on you'll want to pull the fly entry zone up until it snaps into place. Find a good spot to place your trap whether that be from the hanger handle or having it sit on a solid surface. Once I set my trap down it took 60 SECONDS until the first flies were captivated by the aroma and made their way into the death trap. My husband and I are jointly in awe and disgust because of just how many flies it lures then kills. I've never seen anything like it. Once my jar filled to half liquid and half bugs (which took two days) I decided it was time to purge. There was plenty of kill juice left, only about 1/2" lower than when I filled it, so I put on disposable gloves and used my trusty Dollar Tree spoon and scooped the sludge of dead flies out and into a gallon sized Ziploc bag. I know I know- I did what?! But there was a large volume of perfectly good juice left and I wanted to use it up. I let it do it's thing for another 48 hours and this time I had more flies than before. This time I did not use my Dollar Tree spoon to scoop anything out and I didn't want to risk any liquid leaking anywhere once disposed of, so I did what seemed logical; I dumped the contents of the jar into the toilet and flushed it all away. That was sooooo much better! I flushed the toilet three times afterwards not because there was anything that didn't flush down but because I felt it was good measure to be sure the contents flushed through the pipes. Then I cleaned the toilet to be sure no leftover juice was splashed anywhere. I will do it this way from now on as I've ordered more bait packs from desertcart. Now, there are a couple things to be mindful about. One, dead flies can still lay eggs which means any fly that was carrying eggs when it entered the trap can produce maggots. The flies may not figure out how to escape the trap but the maggots can and will. On my third round of setting out the baited jug I purposefully allowed the maggots to come alive to see just how long the trap can be left alone. There are times when we are out of town and I needed to know whether to leave the trap active or to dump it before we go. I need to be sure I'm not helping the fly population near my house thrive! The answer is 4-5 days. With The Google's help, here is the breakdown: flies lay hundred of eggs at a time and maggots hatch/appear within 24 hours; at this stage they are teeny-tiny and will feed for for 3-5 more days; after the 3-5 days they feed they become mobile and can/will crawl so you need to get rid of the jar contents before they want to escape the trap (this is where the toilet and flushing hack worked very well). Second thing to keep in mind is the stench that the bait lets off. This is a very good problem as it is an attractant! It makes me laugh that people give it less stars due to the scent when in reality the scent is great and serves its purpose! This very stinky juice is something you would not want to get on your skin if you can help it. When I was stirring the fresh mixture some splashed on my hand and I washed my hands afterwards a few times to clear the scent away. If you've read all of this and are still wondering whether or not to go ahead and buy it, consider this your sign to do it! I highly recommend this product!
Review: Amazing, it really works, almost too good! - Never thought I’d write a review on something this nasty, but, it REALLY works! Live on the gulf coast, flies are terrible, and I love sitting outside with my coffee and cigar in the AM, and an adult beverage in the evening! This will attract and trap ALL flies and make it pleasant! Of all things, my first product review at age 64🤣

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Works for hanging, but why doesn't the lid lock open so I can place it on a table and enjoy a fly-free area?**
A: I don’t hang mine and you have to tilt lid to side to keep it open works very well 😊

**Q: How far from the house should it be so the odor does not bother me?**
A: My unit was 25' from my house. I never smelled it, even when walking up to the area it was hanging. However you may need a filter mask when dumping it.

**Q: Does this attract bees?**
A: No it does not. It has rotten meat or egg smell that draws in flys by the thousands but bees arnt attracted to those types of smells

**Q: Compared to https://smile.amazon.com/farnam-garden-starbar-captivator-ounces/dp/b000bqsf6e/ref=sr_1_4_mod_primary_sns?crid=1mpmmrlabf6x ?**
A: I dont know really. I used one ofvthem and it slaughters them by the thousands. Same company. Both prob real good.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One way vacation for flys
*by G***T on 19 May 2024*

Does not get rid of 100% of the insects, but I can say it dramatically reduced the amount of flys in a surrounding area. Exceeded expectations. Great product, would recommend if you have outside fly issues. Depending on the size of the area you will need more than one. Each one covers maybe a 75ft radius or more. just two on an acre in the problem areas made a huge impact. I'm prob going to get 2 more to cover my whole property. In would buy again and seems like a decent value for how good it works
