This exciters small size enables audio reproduction in places never imagined: toys, monitors, cabinet doors... even windows! A neodymium magnet is employed to create maximum magnetic flux around the proprietary voice coil for increased sensitivity when compared to similar sized exciters. In turn, this reduces power requirements and makes it possible to use very small audio amplifiers, without sacrificing total output. The 1" voice coil, and cooling vents, allows for more input power for higher output applications while maintaining a slim-line form factor. To ensure maximum acoustic energy transfer between the transducer and the surface to which it is attached, 3M VHB (Very High Bond) adhesive is pre-applied... just peel and stick! For permanent inverted mounting (or when mounting on moving surfaces), four screw tabs are also provided to support the weight of the exciter. But if you can afford it they are a lot of fun to experiment with and depending on what kind of surface you use can produce some of the best sound.. Good luck, have fun! **Q: What us the range on these and how loud can they get?** A: The volume and range are both wholey dependant on what you mount it on. Heavier more solid materials like thick hardwoods give a lower tone, and lighter things like rigid foam are higher. Two of these mounted on the wall or to your coffee table will suprize you with the volume, and range. Drywall, or glass sounds really cool. I have purchased over a dozen excites, most are Dayton, and built some really great stuff. **Q: How are these mounted? Just by the circular dual sided tape? Don't they vibrate off the surface they're mounted to?** A: Yes just the double sided tape. I've had around 8 installed to foam over a year and only one has fallen off so I just epoxied that on back in place. **Q: What is the weight of this unit? Plan to use in drones** A: I do have a pair but they are up in the shop rafters.. (they say 3.87 ounces..) you know that they will need a "surface" to vibrate such as cardboard in my case. The sound they make by themselves is not much. They may also vibrate the drone.. After doing a little research on Dayton Audio's site about how to use and place the sound exciter speaker on to certain materials (wood, plastic, acrylic, etc), I felt confident enough to build a very neat 96 Watt speaker system. I was able to build two speakers, both made out of a 3/16" thick piece of clear acrylic which I cut to around 15in x 27in - basically a classic rectangle in shape. Each speaker has 2 exciters running together in series which increased the Watts to 48W each speaker & the 4 Ohms of each exciter (in series) to a total of 8 Ohms for both speakers. For the amp i used a WINGONEER TDA7492 Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 2x50W 2-channel Audio Receiver Stereo Digital Power Amplifier Board Module. Overall, I'm happy with my first speaker build using this product and plan to replicate the build with higher wattage exciters for my next build! Thank You, Dayton Audio!!
