Works for adults, too! *by Y***R on Reviewed in the United States on 5 March 2020* This is a really great book for the beginning ukulele player. I am an adult learning to play my first musical instrument, the ukulele, and have very little musical knowledge. This book covers all the basics like notes, and strumming, and it is very helpful that it has color pictures of a real person holding their uke with their fingers on the chords. That is super helpful for a beginner. Despite this book does not include the DVD/online video (just the online audio) I decided to buy this book that says "Complete" course based on someone else's review (titled "Integrated Approach, Better Done Than Separate Versions") that mentioned this version includes info from the other 3 books that you can you can buy separately. This one includes online access for the audio but there is a a separate book that has a DVD/online video. The info on the back cover of this complete book is a little confusing to determine what you actually get as it shows underneath the alligator on the back cover book and online audio (40521) and then book & DVD & online video/audio (40522). If you then look to the info detailed over the UPC code you can see that this complete course book is labeled 40521 book and online audio. This complete course book was around $16.32 and if you search for: Alfred's Kid's Ukulele Course 1: The Easiest Ukulele Method Ever!, Book, DVD & Online Video/Audio, just the one book is $19.47. This is a really great value and is a must for beginner uke players. I have not yet accessed the online audio but will update my review when I do. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cannot Recommend It Enough *by J***R on Reviewed in the United States on 17 July 2016* I have been teaching guitar lessons for almost 2 years and I highly recommend this book for helping kids learn the basics of guitar.I would say ages 7 to 12 would be good ages for this book. I also paired this book with learning chords and scales and that seemed to work well. You really just have to gauge the child's ability to comprehend and their drive to want to practice.If you're a parent with a child interested in learning guitar, I highly recommend this book. Even if you don't know much about guitar, you'll be able to take your kid through it. It goes at a slow enough pace that the kids can follow along. And it's detailed enough that a parent with little to know musical background could possibly take the child through it.When you pair the Guitar Course with the Notespeller book, it really adds to helping the kids understand it all. Thank you! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Begins from the most Basic steps *by C***T on Reviewed in the United States on 18 July 2017* Let me begin by saying this is the first instrument my children will be learning how to play and I do not know anything about playing an instrument.The book is FULL of information honestly it is a bit overwhelming as soon as I opened it but it is laid out well. There's so much information and You've got to read every bit of it and for that I almost gave it four stars but I understand that that is what it takes to really learn how to play but it is worth mentioning. They begin with complete basics of playing the Ukulele such which one you have and how to hold it. That is extremely appreciated. The book does NOT come with a DVD which I/m sure was in the description but I just assumed it came with it. It does however come with online access which I prefer anyways. The book includes activities to teach the reader how to write certain musical notes and even a few counting exercises etc. I bought this for my 3 and 5 year old who are anxious to learn to really play their ukuleles but I will also be using it to learn along side them. This is not a sit down and watch and learn kind of book. This is very intentional and detailed.
