## Description

Keeney's 400PVCK PVC P-Trap Pipe Kit for bathrooms or kitchens is made from PVC and includes a reducing washer for connecting to 1-1/4-inch pipe plumbing. It features a 1-1/2-inch or 1-1/4-inch inlet and a 1-1/2-inch outlet, along with a reversible J bend that allows for increased flexibility. This p-trap is ideal for compression or solvent weld installation and includes a Schedule 40 trap adapter as well as all necessary nuts and TPR washers to create a secure seal.

Review: Just as described and worked great. I'm a big fan of the rubber seals. This is my first time using them so can't say if they will last indefinitely like as the plastic ones but they feel much nicer in use. Honestly the old standard plastic seals never gave me any trouble as far as leaks or anything. But even when everything was together and tightened up you could shift the pipes around a little bit and feel the seals slipping in the joints. Like I said, never had any trouble with leaks from them but they just never really seemed that nice or instilled much confidence till you watched them for a few days and made sure nothing was dripping or needed a little extra tightening. With these rubber washers everything really feels nice and snug. You get everything together and give the pipes a little wiggle and everything feels tight. You can feel a little flex in the seals but you can feel its gripping onto the pipe. I don't know, they just feel like a step up quality-wise to me. I hope this TPR rubber keeps it's elastomeric properties and doesn't dry out on me. Also I like that this assembly is PVC rather than polypropylene which it seems like everything is switching to. The PP stuff just feels a little too flimsy and flexible for slip joints and tailpipe joints for my taste and I imagine it would only get more flexible with some hot water going down the pipes. Seems likely to deform or something. Just me, I prefer the more rigid feel of PVC and it's already earned my trust over the years.

**Q: Can i solvent-weld the trap adapter onto pvc that is 1.9” od (1.5” schedule 40, not 1.5” od)?**
A: Yes. A pipe with 1.9" OD is actually called 1.5" (1-1/2") because that is the nominal pipe size. Petersen Products and various other sites have lists of what the true OD, ID, and wall thickness are for PVC and ABS.

**Q: I bought this kit but I need a longer waste tube. Is there a different kit or can I buy a longer waste tube?**
A: I ulttimatelychad to buy an additional piece of straight pipe and use pipe glue, washers and connectors to get it to reach the sink drsin

**Q: I think the pipe from the trap to the septic line might be too long, can I use a flexi line with your kit. My septic pipe is an unthreaded bare pipe?**
A: The L shape pipe can be cut. So no need for a flex line.

**Q: Is the j-trap piece 1-1/4" diameter? Could I connect just the j-trap (plus a nut?) to the threaded metal elbow of the existing bathroom drain pipe?**
A: If your existing (metal) j-trap has a captive nut to connect to the threaded metal elbow, you probably want to find a j-trap that has a captive nut.  However, I think you could use this kit if you're willing to also remove the metal elbow & drain pipe and replace them with the arm included in this kit.  This kit has the captive nut on the arm, not on the j-trap, and the threads are on the j-trap.  It would be more "universal" if the kit were designed with the threads on the arm and the captive nut on the j-trap.

Just as described and worked great. I'm a big fan of the rubber seals. This is my first time using them so can't say if they will last indefinitely like as the plastic ones but they feel much nicer in use. Honestly the old standard plastic seals never gave me any trouble as far as leaks or anything. But even when everything was together and tightened up you could shift the pipes around a little bit and feel the seals slipping in the joints. Like I said, never had any trouble with leaks from them but they just never really seemed that nice or instilled much confidence till you watched them for a few days and made sure nothing was dripping or needed a little extra tightening. With these rubber washers everything really feels nice and snug. You get everything together and give the pipes a little wiggle and everything feels tight. You can feel a little flex in the seals but you can feel its gripping onto the pipe. I don't know, they just feel like a step up quality-wise to me. I hope this TPR rubber keeps it's elastomeric properties and doesn't dry out on me. Also I like that this assembly is PVC rather than polypropylene which it seems like everything is switching to. The thing I like best about this P-trap is the fact that EVERY connection point has a rubber washer. The P-traps they sell at home depot are a plastic-to-plastic connection where the trap meets the arm, and I never know with those if I tightened it enough until I do a water test. With this one I don't have to worry about that since the washer ensures a watertight seal even if I don't tighten it like the hulk on steroids.
