The dog's face and tail are three dimensional. I was a little worried about them coming off, but the are sewn really well to the blanket, so I don't think there's any chance of that. The embroidery is well done for the most part. There are a couple spots that are a bit off, but it's hardly noticeable. It still looks very professional and well made. It's very, very soft. My baby really loved it, and was mad when I took it away to wash. It went through the washer and dryer without any problems, and no signs of wear or shrinkage. This is definitely a good blanket to use as a "lovey."
