Yes the compressor is noisy but then every other model I've seen paddle boarders use are as well. Some complain that the compressor is too slow. It has a lot of work to do pumping your board whilst saving you the hassle. I actually make use of the time to prepare all my other gear so once it's completed I can simply put the device away and lock my car ready to hit the water. I use this now everytime I go out and it's had no problem pumping my board to 18psi. On a few occasions I've pumped two boards back to back, one of those times being when a manual pump failed so this serves as a good backup if your mate has issues with his pump. Only owned this for a few months but it's had a lot of use so far with no issue.
