I haven't had to sharpen mine and I've own this for months. Still picks up my crystals everytime. Only downside is that it won't pick up the crystals from your finger or if it's facing downward. It does not make my hand cramp from holding it long periods of time. It picks up the Diamond Dotz real good. It picks up so good that most times it picks up three or four at a time due to a static charge. Is there any thing i can do to cut down on the static charge so that it would only pick up one. Would buy again. Revised. I had to keep sharpning it and in between i had to use my fingernail to sharpen it. Was disappointed.
