I recently had a cold and trying to find natural remedies that would relieve the symptoms bought a bottle of Manuka Honey from Amazon. That honey appeared to have a good rating but I later started to read up about honey and realised that some companies give a rating that implies it's of a higher grade than has been proven to be beneficial. After much research I learnt that the UMF rating standard is a very good guide line and ratings of 16+ UMF give the honey superior levels of the therapuetic benefits. Looking at a company who belonged to the UMF standard and comparing price I came up with this bottle of Steen Manuka Honey which is 20 UMF+ it appeared to be a good price and so my honey experiment begins.In particular I am keen to ward off any more cold this winter, to help the acid reflux in my stomach and aid the inflammation in my system and I note that it can also add sleep so I plan to use it over this winter and see what improvements I can gain.The honey I received looks very natural and tastes great. I can tell a subtle different in aroma from the previously bought one but who knows how long it will take for me to become a connoisseur! Manuka honey is not cheap and this bottle seem the most keenly priced at £38.99 for 340g. The label suggests that there are 34 portions of 10g in the jar and each portion is 32kcal. Although the honey is not solid you can see the hint of its naturally occurring crystal but it dissolves well in hot drinks.The most important message here is read up about honey before you buy and a simple Internet search will give you all the labels to look out for. Have been using this for a few days and as I indicate above this does look and feel like a better quality product and so although expensive I look forward to the healing benefit and amino acids and Vit B etc this product will give me naturally. What price health? If you are going to buy Manuka Honey buy the good stuff.
