It is not necessarily "inappropriate" for a 2 year old, but might be a little baby-ish. For a 1 year old or under, it is super adorable and soft for them to play. The baseball makes a batting and crowd noise which is my favorite. But for a 2 year old boy, he'd likely be bored by it. I would think at 2 he will want something a little more interactive. But it is a very cute baby gift. **Q: My daughter is going to be two, are these too young for her?** A: I really can't answer for your child as each child is different. This toy was given to my three year old granddaughter. She loved the purse like carrier and the sweet little plush starfish, seahorse, mermaid, dolphin. She still plays with it even at almost four.
