I know I use a lot of these strategies already and other teachers usually come to me for help in classroom management. It's nice now to have a book that discusses the strategies I use and I can recommend this book to others who would like specific examples or don't have time to visit me in the classroom. I was hoping for some advanced strategies for those kids who cycle through every few years where none of your usual tricks work. And I confess, with a family and second job, I don't have the time to visit my students for their soccer games or plays, which was one of the suggestions. It explains behavior once the students enters the building, and then your class room. I started using elements of this book since September, and I have seen a difference in my students. As explained by the author, Rob, I post class procedures in the room (not just rules), therefore my students always know exactly what is expected of them and how it is expected. When they try to test me, all I do is point to the procedure posted on the wall. It works. Rob is an absolute genius.....this is my 16th year teaching, and I work in Jamaica, Queens, NY.
