Review: Good, functional remote-controlled outlets - These work well! The remote has a powerful enough signal to very reliably reach the outlets (at least in my admittedly small apartment) regardless of which room I'm in and where I'm pointing the remote. The outlets have a physical button that can also be used to turn them on and off, and the button also has a built-in LED to indicate whether the outlet is on or off. If, say, your lamp won't turn on, this provides a convenient visual check of whether it's because your outlet is turned off or the lamp itself is turned off. The outlets also support reprogramming (via the physical on/off button), so if you always want certain outlets to turn on and off at the same time, you can program them to use the same radio signals. If you want to use a radio other than the one that comes with the set to control these (say you have a CC1101 lying around), that's easy to do: these are controlled by EV1527 modulated 433.92 MHz signals with "on" pulses lasting around 170 microseconds. Because the outlets use different radio signals for "on" and "off" (rather than a single signal that toggles them), they work nicely with automation setups in which a transmitter is connected to a computer. If you want the outlets to be on, you don't need to know whether or not they already are – you just send the "on" signal and you're good. As advertised, these are small enough that on a double wall outlet, I'm still able to use the other socket. Unsurprisingly, they're not quite small enough for the same to be true on a power strip.

It couldn't be any easier to set up. Plug and play. Literally plug the switch into the outlet and the lamp into the switch. The switch also has a manual on/off switch. I got the five switch package and was more than I needed but with a couple spare switches and another remote I can use it with something else as desired. From a height of about 10 feet and a distance of 20 feet these operate just fine. I am so pleased with them.

Love these. I use them in my classroom to turn on my lamps and string lights. It works great. The plug ins are not slim, but they fit in all the spaces I need them. Very easy to set up and has improved my ease of using lamps in my classroom.
