## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great product & manufacturer; slightly confusing instructions

*by A***L on Reviewed in the United States on 1 June 2011*

I bought a number of different, "fun" solar lights and this grass is one of my favorites. First I have to praise the manufacturer's customer service, especially since some reviews of another manufacturer haven't been so great. Over many years and MANY purchases from Amazon, this is the first time a manufacturer proactively sent me a very nice email just to check in and make sure all was well with my purchase. As to the actual product, you get 3 sprigs of grass, all connected. The wire between each sprig of grass is a fixed length so you can only spread them out so far, but there's a generous length of wire leading to the solar charger so you could easily place the grass in the shade and still get the charger in the sun. The charger has a stake so you can "plant" it in the ground, but I wound mine up to the top of my tomato cage and have it sitting there instead. The wire is dark green so it blends well with my landscaping.Another reviewer complained they look nothing like grass, but I disagree. Let's face it, they are lit neon green at night so it's not like you are fooling anyone, but I think they look very much like grass, especially if you group them right and spread out the "blades of grass" on each. During the day they are sort of a semi-opaque white so they don't stand out too much, which is good.Brightness is also important. On a scale from 1-4, where 1 = "decorative, but very dim light" and 4 = "extremely bright and well suited to light your way", I'd rate these at 3. My goal was mainly decorative and most solar lights I've seen rate no brighter than that so this is better than I expected for a fun, decoration. They also seem pretty tough (other solar lights I'll also review today were really fragile). The only caution is that the instructions for first time use are a little confusing, to the point where I initially thought mine might be broken, when they were actually fine. They say to charge the lights while switched off for at least 24 hours (I assume that's 24 hours of sun, which is 3-4 days), then turn them on. This is pretty typical, though different lights have different start up instructions. Mine didn't light up that first night after turning them on so I checked the instructions. They seemed to say this might happen, but it wasn't completely clear. Regardless, they lit up beautifully the 2nd evening after I turned them on and I noticed they were still going strong at 4 am, as they've done each night since so I'm thrilled with this purchase.Just a quick update per an email I got just now from the manufacturer (they are awesome!) - "It is 24 hours of sunlight. We use environmental-friendly ni-mh rechargeable batteries, which take double of the charge time to boost and reactivate. We also offera 1 year product warranty. Anytime within the year, you can get a replacement if it stopped working."

    Great Idea, butt...

*by P***T on Reviewed in the United States on 30 March 2012*

I loved these lights in my garden. I have other solar lights & these were the perfect unique accent. The blades of grass were poseable & I could move the 3 stakes to perfectly accent my plants. My first set I had out for months & they worked perfectly. A full sunny summer day would give the lights a good 6hrs of light at night. Some of the "blades" were sticking straight up & seemed to get moisture in them & turned brown, but the lights still worked. Then it rained. After the rain, the solar charger stopped working. I could replace the battery with a fresh one, but once it ran out, it wouldn't charge from the solar panel on the stake. I even tried to put in a high quality battery & still the same result. Figuring it was a fluke, I bought another set. I even made sure to bend all the blades down so no water would trickle in the top. This time I had them for about a month before the first rain. Same exact problem. The battery won't recharge in the solar stake. The only way I can get the lights on is to go out & swap the battery with a fresh one. So the lights are really awesome, I'm just sad that the rain seems to destroy the solar charger.**UPDATE**Seller shipped replacement lights. I put a clear piece of packing tape over top of the solar cell & made sure the edges between the cell & the plastic were well covered with the tape. The light work beautifully! It's stood up to two major rainstorms and my grass still glows brightly. Yay!

    They're okay

I ordered 2 of these at the same time and was hoping for a quality product but they aren't quite as good as I hoped.First thing I noticed when I took them out of the box is that the wiring between each grass piece is slightly over a foot. It would be much better if they were 3 or 4 feet apart at the very least. Oddly though the length from the power source to the first grass piece is 9 feet or so. Since I don't need to have the power source far from the grass pieces and the power source probably isn't that visible at night to begin with, I decided to cut the 9 feet down to about 2 feet and use that wire I cut out to extend the length between each grass piece.Second thing I noticed is that you're able to replace the battery in these. I wanted to see what type of battery was being used and when I opened the power source one of the wires (the yellow one running from the solar panel to one of the circuit boards if you want to be specific) popped off the circuit board. Since I was already being a handyman extending the wires, I just re-soldered it back on. Yet, this shouldn't happen. As far a aesthetics, they haven't charged completely yet despite being outside all day today. It was pretty cloudy though so maybe they'll look better tomorrow night. Even though I haven't seen them in full effect yet, I wanted to write this review so others know what they are getting into. Perhaps I'll update this in the future with more on the aesthetics.
