It is a little pointyer than I expected an it can scratch the skin if I am not careful, but it does an amazing job finding matts and removing them. Now my boy is even fluffier than ever before. Unlike the trashy china made knockoffs, nothing falls off the comb with use. I use it to dematt my long hair senior cat who stopped doing a good job grooming herself after a recent major dental operation. I found the best way is to use this comb to isolate the tangled knot and then use the comb in a light scratching pulling motion to slowly untangle the knot a little bit at a time.
