I pull the draw string in at the waist, like shown in the picture to make it shorter, or if you wanted you can leave it loose and keep it longer, but that was not flattering on me. It is definitely modest and not to baring, you could wear it over a bathing suit anywhere, also the material is great, doesn't soak up too much water. If you're looking for something sexy, this probably isn't what you're looking for.
