Half mile...yes. I use it at work in a warehouse atmosphere the size of 2 football fields and it works great. I live 4 miles from work and cannot hear anything at all from home. Super clear reception. I recharge them after every 2 days of fulltime use which would be roughly 20 hours run time. They may go longer without charging. Very durable and can take 4 foot drops all day long.
