Can't comment on the ease of install because our contractor installed it. We bought it ahead of time so he could construct a suitable behind the wall support. It's a piece of 2x10 attached between 2 studs. You probably want something sturdy like that because this is not a cheap, lightweight unit. Materials, build, and finish are quite good.
