## Description

Oatey 39017 Sure-Vent AIR ADM Valve, 1-1/2-Inch by 2-Inch, White : desertcart.ae

Review: I replaced my failed Sioux Chief turbo vent with this Oaty. Instant improvement. Most gurgling is gone. Drain is quiet. I only wish I had figured this out earlier before I tried everything else (thinking I had a clog or other issue).
Review: Cons: a bit expensive for a few ounces of PVC and a diaphragm. But you're not simply paying for the material, testing had to be done on these to make sure they work for a long time keeping sewer gas out of your home. Also, I really wish they would make these in 1.5" as all my non-toilet p-traps and drains are 1.5", in the 3 areas I'm utilizing air admittance valves, space is precious and I had to waste a few inches on a 2" to 1.5" reducer. Note: you do want the valve to be 4" higher than horizontal trap run, so it's not like you'd be able to 90 up and go straight to the valve anyway. Pros: quick and easy to install.... easy as any other pvc connection. I'd suggest looking into local plumbing codes to verify if air admittance valves in general, or this product in particular, are approved substitutes for venting. My local codes specifically list this product as approved with a few clauses. I have an existing 3" cast "main" vent, which qualifies this product for use where adding a vent would require opening up a lot of wall space, and a few other details. This was the perfect solution to the b.s. horizontal vent termination out the side of my house done by previous homeowners in the kitchen and complete lack of venting for my bathroom sink and tub. .... word to the wise and those not already high on pvc cement: do NOT test the valve by using your lungs after you've cemented any fittings or pipe, but before connecting to existing system. If you're so inclined to do so, be certain fumes have dissipated. *ahem* not that I would be so foolish to do so, but even after 15 minutes of dry time, there might be enough solvents in the air to cause considerable discomfort and likely damage to the lungs. Worked though, admitted incoming air, but stopped outgoing.

## Features

- SURE-VENT PVC AIR ADMITTANCE VALVE: Provides the ideal venting solution for island sinks, remote bathroom groups, and remodel jobs by eliminating the need to be connected directly into the stack vent
- EQUALIZES PRESSURE: Keeps the sewer and atmospheric pressures equalized, allowing water to drain freely
- ONE-WAY VALVE: Allows air to enter the plumbing drainage system when negative pressures develop without the use of a vent extended to open air and to prevent sewer gases from escaping into the building
- SENSITIVE TO PRESSURE CHANGES: Closes by gravity and seals the vent terminal at zero differential pressure (no flow conditions) and under positive internal pressures
- SPECIFICATIONS: 1.5" x 2" size is approved to handle up to 3" vent pipe and has a 24 DFU (Drainage Fixture Unit) capacity, and complies to ASSE (American Society of Safety Engineers) Standard 1050 and 1051 for use a secondary vent

## Questions & Answers

**Q: So is this a 1 1/2in. male thread without using any adapters? and will it work on abs pipe?**
A: The top part of the vent (you can see the 2" male threads). The bottom part of the vent is an adapter that allows solvent welding to 1.5" or 2" PVC (not ABS). So, for 1.5" ABS pipe with male threads, you need to use a 1.5 Female to 2.0 female adapter/coupler or, if no threads on the ABS, solvent weld on a 1.5" ABS to 2" female pipe thread adapter.

**Q: Can I cut the vents coming through the roof and cap them in the attic with this?**
A: Per code, you need one 3" vent out the roof. The others can be air admittance valves as long as there is access to replace them and they can get air to work properly.

**Q: What is the difference between the 39016 and the 39017?**
A: Just a different model number. They're both the same size for the same size pipe.

**Q: i have 2 fixtures to the same drain, kitchen sink and sump pump, where should this Valve be placed? Both go to septic, Sink won't drain with pump on**
A: First off I would highly recommend to not put sump pump discharge through your house waste system. It should always be run to the outside. One reason is that your system is not designed for the volume and another is that you are pushing sediment through it. It should be run to the outside away from the foundation or into a drywall system with your gutters if so eqiupt. If you do it the right way you don't need this valve. Also, what happened to your original vent? Lots of questions here....you should only need this for an island sink or difficult remodel situations. That said you can install this on a t above your trap arm or weir or somewhere above that
