This Feit bulb with a E12 candelabra base claims to be an "60W equivalent" incandescent replacement. To claim to be a 60W-equivalent, this bulb should be putting out about 800 lumens of light at a color temperature of about 2700 Kelvin (K). That feat, if true, would place this bulb on the bleeding edge of what consumers can buy today.However, Feit's published output for this bulb is only 500 lumens... and Feit even markets another  LED bulb which also emits 500 lumens as a 40W equivalent . This discrepancy between claimed light capacity (replaces a 60W bulb!) versus reality (it replaces a 40W bulb) is why this product only got 4 stars. If you're OK with buying a 40W-replacement bulb when it claims to be a 60W replacement, then this might be a 5-star product for you.I have no meter to objectively measure the color temperature of the emitted light, so my observations regarding the color temperature are based on comparisons of multiple light bulbs mounted side by side. Feit claims a 3000K color temperature for this bulb. Based on surrounding CFLs rated at 2700K, this color claim appears to be accurate, i.e. the Feit bulb is somewhat 'cooler' than a 2700K bulb. As expected, the 3100K 'warm white' versions of the  LEDwholesalers 6 Watt bulbs  look cooler than this Feit model, making the Feit a better replacement for incandescent bulbs or 'warm' CFLs, if that light color is your taste.One interesting habit of all Feit LED bulbs I own is their 'ignition sequence'. When you apply power, the bulb stays dark for maybe 1/4 second before it lights up. Presumably, the power supply inside is stabilizing during that time. It's somewhat analogous to CFLs, except that the LED bulb is 100% bright within seconds once it's actually on, while pretty much all CFLs take a bit of time to warm up and brighten as they do, especially if they're cold. BTW, the LedWholesaler bulbs light up immediately.Also interesting is how varied the approaches are to making LED bulbs. Feit mounts the LED emitters in the base of this bulb (i.e. the white part) and angles them vertically. A glass column in the center of the bulb then diffracts the light to create a more omni-directional light source. If you're interested in the pattern it casts, see the picture I submitted. The LEDWholesaler bulbs use LEDs mounted on two pieces of Aluminum in the shape of a cup, which cast a very even omni-directional light. Yet another bulb I have bought at Amazon mounts the LED dies on three prongs inside the bulb. It will be interesting to which LED/heat-sink configuration will ultimately become the standard in this industry, as designs mature and LED emitters evolve.All in all, I am very happy with the bulb, and recommend it with the following caveats:1) It is a 40W candelabra replacement, not a 60W replacement. The only bulb that comes close (AFAIK) is a new  7W LED bulb from Wholesale LED  that allegedly emits 700 lumens at around 3000 Kelvins.2) Aesthetically, it is a much larger bulb than any incandescent it is likely to replace. It may look somewhat out of place in a skinny chandelier, for example.3) Because of the bulbous base and tip shape, this bulb may not fit inside some fixtures, especially those where shades are mounted directly on the bulb. Measure twice before ordering.4) Based on my purchase experience, I would not order it from Westside_Wholesale since it took them nearly four weeks to deliver this particular order. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is the future. *by C***. on Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2014* I bought a couple of these for a ceiling fan's light that was always a little lacking in the brightness department. The lamp was rated for 40W max, which was just a bit dim, but I didn't have room for CFLs, and I wanted to retain the ability to dim the lights.60W incandescents put off too much heat for the confined space, and not wanting to burn my house down, I skipped them.Enter LEDs! I had no idea that dimmable LEDs were on the market yet, at a (somewhat) reasonable price. So, I gave these a try.They're rated at 500 lumens, which is supposed to be the equivalent output of a 60W incandescent bulb. However, these LEDs only consume 7W, which is great news, both for energy savings, but also for getting more light out of lamps that may not have been designed to handle high wattage bulbs (like my ceiling fan mentioned above)When the bulbs arrived, I did a side-by-side comparison with the 40W. There was no doubt these were brighter. They are also a brighter white than a typical conventional bulb, but not a harsh blue. The 3000K color of the light these bulbs give off is a cool, bright white, versus the yellowish light of an incandescent. Behind a frosted globe, you would never guess these bulbs were anything out of the ordinary.The time to switch on & go to full brightness is also nothing out of the ordinary. There is certainly no warm-up time or any perceptible delay, as with fluorescent bulbs.My only complaint is the price, but that's the cost of early adoption. As these bulbs get more common, I expect the price to drop dramatically.I can not speak to the longevity of these bulbs, as they are rated for over 22 years of service & I've only had them for a day. I'll let you know how they fare. Yes, they are still a bit pricey, but they are way cheaper than they were just a couple of years ago. And they are so efficient and last so long that they pay for themselves many times over during their life span.
