**Q: Does this Provide any protection from wind and rain?**
A: It will provide some protection and diminish the force of the wind, but it is not a wind break. The screening also needs support if it is to be used as a sort of fence. It is possible to use doubled, or more, layers to provide greater privacy and wind resistance. We use ours on a chain link fence to provide privacy and to break up the wind.

**Q: will this work to keep off carrot fly?**
A: I suspect not as the holes aren't that small, and there is a ridge of slightly larger holes where it is joined.  To be sure you probably need the more expensive horticultural stuff.  I use the debris netting to keep birds off my fruit and brassicas, and the fine mesh stuff for my carrots.
